Then you might be the perfect fit as a Public Advocate Investigator I in the Frankfort Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy.
The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy is the Commonwealth’s largest criminal defense firm and is tasked with representing people who are charged with both felonies and misdemeanors.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following- Conducting investigations on behalf of our attorneys and our clients.
- Locating and interviewing clients, witnesses, and prospective witnesses.
- Conducting background searches.
- Serving Subpoenas.
- Preparing exhibits and testifying in court.
- Searching for, preserving, and transmitting physical evidence for examination.
- Locating and obtaining documents.
- Writing reports and memorandum.
- Assisting the team in formulation of the defense theory.
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
- Strong planning and organization skills.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Attention to detail.

EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Two years experience in law enforcement, general investigation or a related field of investigation.

EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions: Interviews are often conducted in prisons, low-income housing and unfamiliar or confrontational settings. May work irregular hours due to nature of investigative work. Extensive travel is required.
Probationary Period: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
