DescriptionAt the Kentucky Department of Corrections, the Division of Public Affairs plays a crucial role in supporting communication with the citizens of the Commonwealth. The Division of Public Affairs acts as a liaison between the Department of Corrections and members of the public.
The Information Officer supports this mission by helping tell the story of our department and highlighting the positive impact our staff makes every day.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following- Managing DOC social media accounts and creating original content that showcases employee excellence, achievements, and the Department’s role in building a stronger, safer Kentucky.
- Supporting website updates to ensure accurate, timely, and engaging information is available to the public.
- Producing photography and videography that elevate recruitment and retention efforts across the agency.
- Collaborating with the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet to align messaging with broader cabinet initiatives.
- Developing materials for career fairs, advertising campaigns, and other recruitment and retention strategies.
The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, technology skills, organization skills, and should demonstrate the ability to complete work activities in a professional manner. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask with the ability to plan, pay attention to detail, think critically, and analyze information to forecast positive outcomes. This candidate should work well in a team oriented environment and adapt to the ever changing needs of the Department, facility, and Division.
Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor s degree.
