- Wash pupil desks, chairs, and tables; align in proper order.
- Sweep tile floors daily, wash floors periodically; vacuum carpeted floors.
- Empty pencil sharpeners and wastebaskets; clean chalkboards, trays, erasers.
- Clean doors, doorplates, thermostats, light switches, bookcases, teacher desks, chairs, tables, and other furniture.
- Wash wall marks; clean both sides of glass in doors and glass walls, and exterior windows (sills, wells, metal surfaces).
- In science classrooms, clean black tops on laboratory tables and glass cupboard doors.
- Clean window shades or blinds, adjust uniformly.
- Clean light fixtures; replace defective parts and bulbs (ballast not included).
- Sand and varnish desks, tables, chairs as needed.
- Clean univents: remove panels, oil motors, oil filters; dust with dust broom, vacuum fins and interior; replace filters; close and wash outside with disinfectant.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms; perform minor repairs: commodes, urinals, sinks, partitions; empty all waste containers; replace paper towels, toilet tissue, refill soap dispensers; wash mirrors, shelves, fixtures; sweep, wet mop floors daily, scrub periodically; clean light fixtures and components.
- Vacuum ceilings; scrub walls with disinfectant solution; wash glass surfaces; perform minor repairs as needed.
- Clean stairways, entrance halls, and hallways: sweep and dust railings, stairs, landings; clean glass windows and doors; sweep mats; vacuum fabric mats; clean walls; empty trash containers; sanitize drinking fountains; dust lockers and clean outside, wash insides during summer; sweep, scrub, wax, buff floors, stairs, landings, entrance halls, hallways; clean light fixtures and replace defective parts; close and lock windows and exterior doors.
- Clean Music Rooms, Home Economics Area, Shop Area, Administrative Offices, Kitchen, Workroom, Storage, Furnace And Medical Rooms: apply general cleaning tasks, align furniture, dust appliances, counters, sweep, scrub, wax, buff floors, vacuum carpeted areas, perform minor repairs.
- Clean locker rooms, physical education rooms, and offices: perform applicable cleaning tasks, dust and clean lockers, perform minor repairs.
- Clean Auditorium: sweep, scrub, wax, buff tile floors; vacuum carpeted areas; wash chair and seat markings; clean stage and backstage area; dust surfaces; clean and repair light fixtures; clean doors and doorplates; clean glass windows; perform minor repairs.
- Clean Cafeteria (commons) area: wash chairs and tables, align them, wash glass in trophy cases, dust pictures, paintings, wall plaques, clean overhang.
- Clean Gymnasium: dust mop floor, dust bleachers, wash markings, wash glass surfaces, dust horizontal surfaces, clean light fixtures and replace defective parts, sanitize drinking fountains.
Inform principal of repairs beyond capability; keep walkways, steps, sidewalks free of ice, snow, debris; maintain supplies; lock or unlock entrances as directed; replace broken windows; perform daily heating and cooling inspections; ensure classroom temperatures 68‑72°F; check sewage disposal unit; perform other duties as assigned.

AbilitiesUnderstand and follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum Qualifications- Six months relevant experience in custodial work.
Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated per board policy for classified personnel.
