Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is currently seeking an Assistant Director II – Investment Operations Branch for the Division of Accounting. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, KPPA is responsible for the daily administration of three state administered retirement systems with over $29 billion in combined assets. These systems have a membership of more than 444,000 state and local government employees in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including state employees, state police officers, city and county employees, as well as non‑teaching staff of local school boards and regional universities.
This position provides administrative support services to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Investment Officer and the Division Director of Accounting. The position provides requested information to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director. This position provides management, supervision and direction to the Investment Operations staff.

Key Responsibilities- Reviews monthly investment activity and the impacts to the financial statements, prepares accounting and adjustment entries, and performs trend analyses.
- Responsible for the preparation of the Investment Section and investment schedules for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFRs) and quarterly reporting for board meetings.
- Manages the Investment Operations Branch staff including time management and attendance, performance evaluations and personnel actions.
- Develops and implements accounting policies and procedures for the Investment Operations Branch.
- Performs the duties of the Director in his/her absence.
- Accounting, financial reporting or investment related experience with a trust department, brokerage firm or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Financial reporting software knowledge (example Workiva, Gravity, etc.).
- Proficient in Microsoft.
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working ConditionsIncumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
