Job Description

The Sit-Down Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating a sit-down forklift to transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products throughout the facility. This role is essential in ensuring production lines remain supplied and equipment never shuts down due to lack of material.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to deliver raw materials and work-in-process goods to multiple production lines.

• Move loose materials and products between machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Load and unload materials, remove empty pallets, and maintain orderly material flow.

• Check material identification and verify against production or shipping schedules.

• Perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections and basic preventive maintenance, such as changing propane tanks and checking oil/water.

• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized.

• Report inconsistencies, equipment concerns, or safety issues to supervisors.

Essential Skills

• 3 years of experience operating a sit-down forklift.

• Proficiency in forklift operation, inventory management, and material handling.

• Experience with loading, unloading, and shipping tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Attention to detail and ability to verify material identification.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain efficiency.

Work Environment

You will work in a 270,000 square foot facility within a company of 200 employees that specializes in manufacturing racking and metal bins for various clients. The work environment is fairly clean with ample open space. Please note, it is a non-climate-controlled facility, which can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

This is a Contract position based out of Frankfort, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $22.00/hr.
