Location: Hybrid (Frankfort/Lexington area preferred); statewide travel required
Salary Range: $50,000-$70,000
The Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc. (KASAP) is the statewide coalition of the 13 rape crisis centers in the Commonwealth. The mission of KASAP is to speak with a unified voice against sexual victimization. As a coalition, KASAP provides technical assistance to member programs and professionals; advocates for improvements in public policy; fosters coalition building among members, organizations, and individuals committed to ending sexual violence;
promotes prevention and public awareness regarding sexual assault and related issues; and maintains resources for sexual assault program staff and the public. KASAP does not provide direct services to survivors of sexual violence.
The Advocacy Specialist strengthens trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy across Kentucky’s 13 regional rape crisis centers (RCCs). This role provides structured technical assistance, training, and practical resources to support RCC advocates in delivering services and participating effectively in coordinated community response efforts.
Core Responsibilities Training, Technical Assistance & Capacity BuildingProvide training and technical assistance to Kentucky’s 13 regional rape crisis centers on:
- Development and maintenance of local and regional Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs)
- Strengthening trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy practices, including support line, medical, and legal advocacy
- Provision of emotional support services to incarcerated survivors as outlined in MOUs with DOC, DJJ, and BOP
- Outreach to traditionally underserved populations
Develop and distribute advocacy toolkits and resources focused on meaningful access to services and coordinated response, in collaboration with KASAP’s Training Coordinator
Assist with planning, organization, and delivery of KASAP’s 40-hour Foundations of Advocacy training course
Plan, organize, and facilitate KASAP’s Advocates’ Network meetings
Assist with planning KASAP's annual conference, including recruiting presenters for SART, human trafficking, and PREA-focused workshops.
Provide other trainings as needed and appropriate
Document activities and outcomes in alignment with grant performance measures.
Statewide Coordination & Collaboration- Serve as staff to the state-level SART Advisory Council Stakeholder Meeting (SART-AC) and relevant subcommittees
- Write and submit the SAFE Act Annual Report, in accordance with Kentucky regulations
- Synthesize practice-based feedback from advocates to inform KASAP policy and projects
- Facilitate connections between local advocates and their partners in sexual assault response (medical, legal, community, etc.)
- Serve, as directed, as KASAP’s representative to partner agencies and organizations
- Develop and sustain partnerships aligned with KASAP’s mission and strategic plan to strengthen advocacy relationships with those partners
- Document activities and outcomes in alignment with grant performance measures.
- Facilitate access to emotional support services for incarcerated survivors through collaboration with rape crisis centers and correctional facilities.
- Provide statewide coordination and technical assistance to ensure consistent service delivery within correctional settings.
- Provide advocacy-focused training and technical assistance related to correctional, detention, and PREA settings.
- Support RCC outreach to detention facilities in their service areas.
- Develop and disseminate practical PREA advocacy resources and tools
- Document activities and outcomes in alignment with grant performance measures.
Complete special projects and additional duties assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer.
