By joining the Division for Air Quality, Program Planning and Administration Branch, Emissions Inventory Section as an Environmental Scientist Advisor in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to provide assistance and technical oversight to businesses, state and federal agencies, local governments, and/or the general public in the development, interpretation and implementation of annual emissions survey submissions aswell as conduct scientific studies including analyzing and interpreting data that pertains to permit emissions information.

Holders of the Environmental Scientist Advisor position will complete tasks such as:

  • Serve as a technical advisor responsible for implementing scientific programs and studies related tothe Federal Air Emissions Reporting Rule on a statewide basis.
  • Provide expertise in the development of guidelines and procedures relating to air quality emissions inventory
  • Evaluate permits, projects, authorizations, and certification applications to determine compliance with existing regulations.
  • Oversee and implement the creation, maintenance, and closure of regulated facilities in the Kentucky Emissions Inventory System based on approved permitting actions under Title V and minor source programs.
  • Complete Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) of required permitting emissions inventory information for sources.
  • Provide input as requested related to QA/QC data for state and federal agency use.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR

SKILLS:

Five years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.

Substitute EDUCATION for

EXPERIENCE:

Graduate study in a natural, biological, or physical science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
