By joining the Division of Environmental Program Support (DEPS), Inorganic Branch, Metals Section as a Chemist I in Franklin County, you will have the opportunity to work in helping DEPS meet programmatic monitoring and regulatory testing needs.

• Performs routine preparation and analysis of various types of water, waste, soil, and tissue samples using several different types of instrumentation.
• Converts raw data to final results using data reduction programs and reviews raw data for errors.
• Performs routine maintenance on instruments.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.

Work is performed in a laboratory setting. Incumbent may be exposed to hazardous materials, substances, or compounds when performing chemical analysis, which may require utilization of safety measures. Field work may be required.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
