Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Automotive Technician
Position Summary
Working under supervision of a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician A repairs and maintains diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components; refuse bodies, control, hydraulic, electrical systems; air brake systems; engine work; HVAC; suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. Operates on a single fleet with state‑of‑the‑art equipment, supporting drivers and handling highly technical vehicles.
PrincipalResponsibilities
- Maintain advanced knowledge and skill proficiency of vehicle components and systems to perform complex repair and maintenance both on‑site and on the road.
- Repair and maintain chassis components, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, electrical systems), air and hydraulic braking systems.
- Diagnose and repair engines, diesel fuel systems, and fuel system diagnostics.
- Service suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating, and air conditioning systems; diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems, REGEN, and related diagnostics.
- Diagnose electrical concerns using scan tools.
- Perform line maintenance, welding, and fabrication.
- Identify the source of malfunctions with electronic tools.
- Complete applicable company training programs.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
- 5–7years of experience as a technician working on heavy‑duty trucks.
- Experience with inspections and repairs without supervision in some of the following systems: suspensions & steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, diesel emissions.
- ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1‑T8) are a plus.
- LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus.
- ClassB or higher Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License.
