Communications Specialist

Our client is seeking a Communications Specialist to join its Infrastructure Cabling Team. This is a hands‑on, field‑based cabling role responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network cabling infrastructure. Because the team supports all 120 counties, the position involves regular travel throughout the state, with occasional overnight stays as the work requires. A company‑provided van for equipment and materials is included.

• Run, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and repair copper network cabling, including CAT5, CAT6, and CAT6A.
• Install and maintain cabling infrastructure across a wide range of field sites.
• Diagnose and resolve cabling and connectivity issues to ensure reliable network performance.
• Perform fiber optic cabling work as needed, where applicable.
• Travel to job sites throughout all 120 counties on a daily basis, with overnight stays when work demands.
• Operate and maintain a state‑provided van used to transport equipment and materials.

• Demonstrated experience running, testing, troubleshooting, terminating, and repairing CAT5, CAT6, and CAT6A network cable.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Availability for travel, including the possibility of overnight stays (paid for).
• Ability to work on‑site in Frankfort, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This position does not offer telecommuting.

• Hands‑on fiber optic cabling experience. Fiber experience is welcomed and would be used in this role.

This position supports infrastructure across all 120 counties in Kentucky. Travel is expected, and overnight travel may be required when the scope of work calls for it. The state will provide a dedicated van for transporting equipment and materials.
