Plumbing Apprentices & Journey persons (Travel Position) Job Description

PlumbingApprentice Duties
- Under the direction of the site foreman: move/haul material, pull water lines, fire caulking, thread pipe and assist with any other tasks required.
- Second year apprentices will independently: thread pipe, install laundry boxes, with supervision: begin drainage, soldering, assembling tub valves and assist with any other tasks required.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Work under the direction of the assigned Site Foreman.
- Manages his/her assigned tasks, planning, organizing materials.
- Locate and mark the positions for connections and fixtures.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, clamp, solvent cement or solder pipe.
- Assemble and install valves and fittings.
- Install sanitary and water piping system.
- Read building plans and specifications to determine the layout for the plumbing and other materials.
- Implements in‑house quality, safety and internal policy & procedures, standards and/or specifications.
- Mentor/train crew members.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to visualize a finished product from a document.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying.
- Ability to work in high, awkward, and noisy places.
- Ability to work alone or with others.
- The ability to contribute to a highly team‑oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strength, stamina and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs.

- Technologically literate i.e., moderately proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- High work ethic and dedication to the company and the client.
- Steel‑toed footwear.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or access to transportation.
- Dental care.
- Extended health care.
- RRSP match.
