DescriptionJoin the Department for Public Health, Division of Maternal and Child Health, and make a meaningful impact on the health and well‑being of families across Kentucky. This position plays a key role in coordinating federally funded maternal health grants that support initiatives focused on perinatal quality, maternal mental health, and substance use, and serves as the primary liaison between the Division of Maternal and Child Health and relevant federal agencies.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and committed to advancing programs that strengthen maternal and infant health outcomes across the Commonwealth.
This is a federally funded time‑limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as a result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non‑merit) employee.
An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.
- Serve as a direct liaison between DMCH and the federal grant oversight agency.
- Directly coordinates and submits grant applications and updates them as necessary.
- Serves as lead on interagency calls and meetings.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Develops and proposes the federal applications, including budgets.
- Prepares allocations for contracts with universities, regional agencies, and state programs.
- Prepares modifications and grant amendment requests to make changes to the grant budget based on budget analysis.
- Continuously monitors and analyzes spending to ensure state and federal compliance.
- Provides guidance and technical assistance to DMCH staff and external agencies regarding grant requirements, policies, and programmatic compliance as necessary.
- Creates, updates, or causes to be created and updated standard operating procedure manuals, staff development, and ensures compliance.
- Serves as a liaison and subject matter expert between the DMCH and external agencies and providers and state and federal officials to maintain and provide consistent guidance and assistance to agencies pertaining to the scope of the grant.
- Prepares administrative, grant, and budget reports and ensures timely submission.
- Experience working with grants.
- Experience reading, researching, interpreting, and applying state and federal regulations and policies.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, scheduling resources and meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills.
- Receptive to others’ ideas and the ability to work constructively to increase depth and effectiveness in a group or team effort.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
