Basic FunctionAssure the safe transportation of pupils to and from school.
Performance Responsibilities- Drive the specific route as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
- Adhere to the time schedule set by the Principal of the school served.
- Maintain safe discipline and report pupil misconduct to the school Principal.
- Report to the bus garage for any needed repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks (walk around inspection) each morning and afternoon.
- Report all accidents to the proper authorities on the day of the accident.
- Keep a daily trip ticket showing miles driven and fuel usage.
- Clean the bus each day to maintain a clean and neat condition.
- Complete and return all paperwork requested by the transportation office on time.
- Inform the Director of Transportation of any route changes due to road conditions, number of students, or other factors that may affect the route.
- Complete a maintenance worksheet for the bus.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Principal, Director of Transportation, or Superintendent.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
- Ability to understand oral and written communications.
- Meet all Kentucky Revised Statutes and local board of education requirements for bus drivers.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with bus driving.
- Valid Kentucky CDL and driver’s license.
Salary and work year will be established by the board of education. Salary: $20.74 to $28.03 per hour. Position type:
Full‑time.
Performance will be evaluated per board policy for classified personnel.
