I. OverviewAs a Business Process Expert for External Purchasing, you will execute and sustain standardized purchasing processes to ensure effective MRP utilization and material availability. Working under the direction of the Business Process Owner, you will act as a subject matter expert, support adoption across regions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. By partnering with cross-functional teams, you will help reduce manual intervention, improve buyer productivity, and optimize inventory performance.
II.Key Responsibilities
- Support the BPO in deploying global process standards and governance requirements.
- Act as subject matter expert for external purchasing and MRP utilization; guide regions in applying the core model.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, training, and change management to drive adoption of standardized processes.
- Use ERP data and KPIs to identify gaps and recommend improvements; provide feedback to the BPO for process enhancements.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, and Suppliers to improve global delivery reliability and align confirmations with planning requirements.
- Partner with the Planning COE to share best practices and sustain process adoption.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma principles.
The ideal candidate combines strong supply chain knowledge with analytical and leadership skills to optimize external purchasing processes and ensure effective MRP utilization.
- Supply Chain Expertise: Procurement, site purchasing, replenishment strategies and material planning principles.
- ERP Familiarity: Ability to navigate purchasing and planning transactions in ERP systems (JDE or SAP preferred) to leverage insights for process improvement.
- Analytical

Interpret data and KPIs to identify gaps, analyze root causes, and recommend practical solutions. - Process Optimization:Skilled in streamlining workflows, reducing manual intervention, and improving MRP utilization.
- Leadership & Change Management: Ability to lead training and adoption initiatives across regions.
- Communication & Influence: Clear communicator who can align stakeholders and convey complex ideas simply.
- Strategic Perspective: Understand how purchasing processes support broader supply chain goals and adapt to changing conditions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain or procurement roles, with emphasis on external purchasing and MRP-driven planning.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive process improvements.
- Experience supporting process adoption and continuous improvement in a global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA or M.S. in a related field).
- Experience in manufacturing or complex supply chain environments.
- Expertise in ERP purchasing and planning transactions (SAP or JDE preferred).
- Knowledge of advanced supply chain planning tools (e.g., Kinaxis, SCM).
- Experience with strategic procurement technologies.
- Knowledge of production scheduling principles.
- Experience with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
