Job Description Summary

The Director, Global Customer Insights is accountable for leading the development and evolution of enterprise‑wide Insights and data‑driven decision‑making across BD. This role will enable end‑to‑end Insights vision, operating model, and governance, ensuring customer‑driven decision‑making is embedded across the organization—from portfolio strategy and innovation through commercialization and lifecycle management.

A key focus of the role is enabling Launch Excellence for priority programs across the organization. The individual will champion customer centricity, elevate external orientation, and bring the voice of the customer into every stage of decision‑making.

The role will own the design and execution of Insights programs, leveraging both primary and secondary research to deliver integrated, advanced insights that inform strategic business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead Global Insights agenda that enables the achievement of BD long‑term success with focus on Launch Excellence – across all stages of NPD and commercialization, from unmet needs identification and opportunity sizing to value proposition and Insight development, launch optimization, and post‑launch learning.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert in Insights formulation; design and facilitate cross‑functional workshops; coach teams on insights quality standards.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders, translating complex customer, market, and competitive data into clear strategic choices.
  • Partner with Business Unit, Region and Functional leaders (Marketing, R&D, Business Development, Medical Affairs) to build and deliver actionable Insights plans with clear understanding of business issues.
  • Practice Data Synthesis & Storytelling:
    Integrate multiple data sources into actionable insights; craft compelling narratives and influence leadership decisions.
  • Communicate objective, in‑depth, and actionable insights and recommendations to key business partners and stakeholders via reports, compelling presentations, and ad‑hoc meetings.
  • Stay current with market best practices, emerging methodologies, and innovative research approaches; act as a thought leader for Insights within BD.

  • Advanced proficiency in market research design and execution.
  • Deep experience with human‑centered design and innovation frameworks (e.g., Design Thinking).
  • Strong project management capabilities; ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data through a commercial lens.
Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in a strategic Insights and analytics role.
  • 5+ years of experience in Innovation and Launch/Marketing excellence oriented roles.
  • Deep experience in Consumer/Customer Insight development.
  • Experience with conducting primary and secondary market research.
  • Experience in conducting Ethnographic research.
  • Experience in analytic methods such as Volumetric Forecasting, MMA, TURF, Max‑Diff, Choice‑based methods.
  • Research methodology experience with segmentation, pricing, messaging, A&Us, etc.
  • Experience in managing Insights vendors.
  • Preferred industry experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals or OTC.
  • Preferred global research experience.
