Summary:
This position is responsible to manage the GIE team for Asset Design, construction, Process Implementation and associated business assistance across the Medical Essential segment with high speed and Automated processes SM scope, and is positioned to ensure that the company's equipment design, supply, cost, etc. are aligned to business expectations. This leadership role provides expert engineering skill, judgement, and mentoring of other engineers.
The scope to SM BU will be extended to other Medical Essential segment equipment later on. GIE EDI teams ensure that the company’s equipment design, supply and cost meet quality product output and business needs, in accordance with industry trends and technological innovation. We manage the implementation of equipment from purchase order through ramp-up and assist sites once the equipment has been released to production (post ramp-up).
Expertise At BU Level
- Costing inputs to help build the most accurate business case
- URS (User Requirement Specification) to describe all criteria needed to build the appropriate equipment by the equipment manufacturer
- Equipment design / Vendor Management to ensure equipment is rightly designed at the right supplier with the right sourcing strategy
- FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) to ensure equipment performance aligns with the URS
- SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) to show that the machine behaves as expected in the plant environment
- Partnering with BD factories to validate and ramp-up equipment to drive vertical start-up and sustained performance
- Factory, business and quality support post ramp-up to assist during performance/quality crises
- Harmonization and global expertise for equipment design in areas including Equipment design qualification and cross-BU expertise such as Assembly, Automation & Modernization

SummaryThis position is responsible for Asset Design and Process Implementation across the Medical Segment with SM scope to start, ensuring that equipment design, supply, cost, etc. are aligned to business expectations. Responsibilities- Develop and execute the SM Process Technology Strategy: participate in the manufacturing process technology strategy to create a competitive advantage based on quality, service, cost, and market expectations; align resources and deliver process improvement results on time and within budget.
- Process Development (Quality, Efficiency and Harmonization): prioritize and develop global process development activities to leverage manufacturing technology, manage risk, and maintain updated equipment documentation; collaborate across the GIE community to share best practices and ensure WW compliance to global process specifications; deliver global process development that meets specifications and efficiency requirements on time and within budget.
- Functional Leadership & People Development: engage the team around strategy, build an inclusive organization, drive engagement and performance, develop a global talent pool, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Project Execution & Capital Management: lead engineers and technicians to complete projects; design of process/equipment and URS to meet manufacturing requirements; create capital appropriation documents (CB-2) and manage Capex spend with high accuracy; manage integration of new equipment through validation and ramp-up, and support equipment integration during install and startup.
- Vendor & Design Management: lead suppliers and external design teams for larger capital projects; collaborate with procurement for vendor selection; maintain design documentation and ensure equipment safety and regulatory compliance.
- Engineering & Validation: develop innovative mechanical concepts, create/obtain detailed CAD models and drawings, perform analyses and simulations, participate in design reviews and risk assessments, and ensure Smart Factory requirements are reflected in URS.
- Operations Support: support operations during production crises and ensure compliance with safety and quality policies and practices.

- Minimum Education:
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred). MBA or MS in Engineering is preferred. - Minimum Experience:
10 years of progressively responsible engineering and management experience; proven leadership in project and capital management; experience in operations and/or advanced manufacturing engineering preferred. - Other:
