As a member of the BD Pharmaceutical Advanced Drug Delivery Systems (ADDS) business, you will contribute to the rapid scale‑up of a new business platform that will be a key driver of BD’s future growth. This role sits on a New Product Development team and involves leading or participating in design and development from concept to commercial launch, with a focus on technical activities including designing, optimizing, analyzing, prototyping, testing and validating products of moderate scope/complexity.
ResponsibilitiesJob Duties Include
- Provide solid technical engineering skill.
- Lead and/or contribute to the completion of programs and projects in a design control environment.
- Set and adjust priorities for self and contribute to team planning.
- Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principles.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Project Responsibilities
- Product development: plan, implement, monitor and deliver tasks; solve technical problems; participate in periodic design reviews.
- Technology transfer: participate in transition from research to development to manufacturing.
- Process effectiveness: ensure appropriate processes are followed for engaging related parties in project activities.
- Innovation: provide technical solutions that are imaginative, thorough, and practical.
- Customer focus: understand customer needs to drive relevant and innovative product development.
- Continuous learning: pursue training to improve skills and share lessons learned; promote learning.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant medical device product design & development experience or equivalent.
- Experience with structured, phase-gated product development processes.
- Experience identifying and prioritizing customer needs and requirements.
- Understanding of tightly controlled, high‑volume manufacturing considerations.
- Experience with all phases of Design Control and requirements management, including design verification strategies.
- Technical leadership on cross‑functional product development teams; experience with R&D work streams.
- Strong knowledge of medical device risk management methodologies.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and Design for Six Sigma.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, influence, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- ME/MS in Mechanical, Materials Science, or Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines.
- CSWP Certified Solid Works Professional.
