Job Title: R&D or Product Design / Development engineer

Contract Term: 12+ Months

Weekly 37.50 Hours [Mon - Fri]

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an R&D or product design / development engineer in the medical device industry. Experience with designing and developing disposable medical device products for high-volume manufacturing methods such as injection molding, automated assembly and packaging processes. Experience with assessing material properties (PP, PE, elastomers) for impact to product. Relevant experience includes design considerations such as tight tolerances and design implications for quality control for high-volume manufacturing processes.

• Demonstrated engineering and design skills
• Experience with impact to functional performance based on variable material properties (PP, PE, PC, elastomers). Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and influencing skills
• Results driven and action oriented
• Careful attention to detail to ensure accurate and precise execution of work tasks and procedures
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervisor input, and able to communicate and discuss technical issues and significant findings of evaluations performed
• Disciplined and well organized in documentation in a regulated environment. Design control for medical devices.

This position is within the R&D organization of BD Medical - Medication and Procedural Solutions. This position will contribute to design and development activities focused on identifying, developing and implementing solutions to support the current product portfolio. More specifically, the job responsibilities will include:

• Support design and development activities for products within the current portfolio offerings.
• Support current products in terms of quality, manufacturing, supply continuity and cost improvement.
• Participate in executing technical and/or cross-functional project work.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts to improve current product performance. Responsible for functional testing of devices and will be responsible for organizing experiments and results, interpreting data and developing reports.
