Field Service Technician – Steam & Thermal Equipment
Location: Franklin Park, IL (or regional field office within the U.S.)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $38 – $42 per hour (DOE)

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Field Service Technician to perform start-ups, troubleshooting, and maintenance of steam generators and thermal fluid heaters at customer sites across the U.S. and internationally. This role requires hands‑on experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Travel is extensive (approximately 80–90%), with most trips lasting less than five days.
Key Responsibilities- Perform new unit start-ups at customer locations nationwide and internationally.
- Assist customers and service technicians with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.
- Provide field service for steam generators and thermal fluid heaters.
- Conduct burner combustion and operational testing on units prior to shipment.
- Provide phone or remote support to customers when needed.
- Complete weekly trip reports and communicate status updates on service activities.
- Document technical procedures, including electrical system descriptions and operating instructions.
- 3+ years of experience working with PLC controllers and HMI devices;
Siemens and Allen Bradley experience preferred. - Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.li>
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and piping schematics.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Comfortable using hand tools, test meters, and combustion analyzers for burner fuel/air adjustments.
- Experience servicing boilers, burners, and steam generating equipment is helpful.
- Must have U.S. work authorization.
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related field preferred.
- Military training or equivalent experience in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems will be considered.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working in customer facilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and access all machinery and work areas safely.
- Hourly Pay: $38 – $42 per hour, based on experience
