Regional Manager North America role at Atlas Air
The Regional Manager North America for Ground Operations will be responsible for coordination and oversight of Atlas activity in the region, providing guidance on regulatory issues, maintaining safe, compliant, and timely operations, coordinating closely with local staff and regulatory agencies, leading station personnel, and ensuring compliance with company policies to support corporate strategy and safety policy across cargo and passenger operations.
ResponsibilitiesSafety and Regulatory Compliance
- Accountable for the region's safety and security performance.
- Conform to required safety and security standards, meeting all company, local, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee safety issues related to station operations, including dangerous goods, ground operations, ramp and warehouse activities, and flight support.
- Partner with the Station Manager to oversee each station’s Emergency Response Plan (SERP).
- Champion operational safety and security across all operations.
- Serve as a liaison with the local Civil Aviation Authority, representing the company’s interests.
- Ensure stations meet corporate audit requirements and operate smoothly.
- Lead and manage all operational aspects in the region to provide a competitive edge in service quality.
- Establish ground services standards and strategies to achieve KPIs at each station.
- Manage auxiliary services to deliver high‑quality, consistent service on and offline.
- Drive operational excellence using service performance tools and KPIs.
- Partner with regional support teams to set SMART goals for specific performance areas.
- Act as liaison with the Customer Service group to support the key customer base and brand.
- Coordinate regional activities, conduct operational meetings, and maintain effective controls.
- Monitor vendor and customer compliance with safety and security standards.
- Provide regional feedback on service initiatives and manage costs related to the region.
- Develop policies, procedures, and actions to maintain high customer service levels.
- Schedule station visits to verify compliance with service level agreements.
- Review personnel and facility requests to ensure justification and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Coordinate expansion and oversight of cargo‑related ACMI, CMI, and charter operations.
- Anticipate future service and manpower needs, standardize procedures, and conduct training.
- Maintain standard operating procedures and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Partner with Procurement to appoint preferred third‑party agents and monitor SLA performance.
- Develop effective relationships with Ground Handling Agents to maximize value.
- Maintain positive relationships with local Civil Aviation Departments and regulatory bodies.
- Drive performance improvement and optimization of ground operations through collaboration.
- Collaborate with the Regional Director of APAC on process improvement projects.
- Work with the Security team on all security matters and liaison with authorities.
- Lead the set‑up of new stations in conjunction with Ground Operations directives.
- Support service strategy execution and act as regional trainer as directed.
- Assist the Commercial team with customer solution initiatives aligned with sales strategy.
- Provide regional feedback to HDQ and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory entities.
- Maintain communication with the Director of Station Operations on visits and service items.
- Support internal departments as needed and work on complex projects under direction.
- Monitor contracts to ensure vendor compliance with provisions and SLAs.
- Oversee station budgets to keep costs within forecast.
- Review monthly financial reports for compliance with travel and expense policies.
- Create a culture of fiscal responsibility and continuous process improvement.
- Lead, support, and motivate the team to achieve success.
- Build a strong, motivated team with the right structure.
