The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping the facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position handles day-to-day maintenance and repair of equipment, building systems, and production machinery, while ensuring all work meets EPA, OSHA, and Hazmat safety standards.
Job Duties- Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance on industrial electrical power systems, basic controls, and processing equipment.
- Diagnose and service vacuum, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to minimize downtime.
- Support the installation and setup of new processing and packaging equipment under direct supervision.
- Use hand tools and machine shop equipment to measure, cut, drill, and fabricate components within required tolerances.
- Weld stainless steel and carbon steel as needed for equipment and structural repairs.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities and document completed work accurately.
- Maintain facility infrastructure, including building repairs and grounds upkeep.
- Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, diagrams, and written instructions.
- Follow all food manufacturing GMPs and safety protocols at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and facility operations.
- Preferably 5+ years of experience in maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related trade.
- Experience in a meat or food manufacturing environment is highly valuable; familiarity with USDA/FSIS regulations is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply math concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to real-world tasks.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work from written, verbal, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions.
- Positive attitude and commitment to maintaining a safe, collaborative work environment.
