Food Safety Supervisor

A small, but growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on FSQA Supervisor to oversee quality assurance, food safety programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement within its production facility.

The ideal candidate will have experience in food manufacturing, preferably with acidified or shelf-stable products such as pickled vegetables, sauces, or condiments. This individual will work closely with Production, Operations, and Management to maintain quality standards, resolve issues, and promote a strong food safety culture. The anticipated salary for this role is between $70,000 and $80,000 a year.

• Manage and continuously improve food safety and quality systems, including BRCGS or similar certification programs.
• Maintain HACCP plans, GMPs, SOPs, sanitation programs, allergen controls, and required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable FDA, USDA, state, and customer requirements.
• Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits and oversee corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee daily quality control activities, product testing, inspections, production records, and product release.
• Monitor critical control points, pH levels, processing temperatures, and other requirements for acidified and shelf-stable products.
• Partner with Production and Sanitation teams to address quality concerns, maintain cleanliness, and enforce food safety standards.
• Manage supplier quality, product specifications, traceability, recall procedures, and required records.
• Train employees on food safety, HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, and quality procedures.
• Provide direction to QA/QC personnel and communicate significant quality or food safety concerns to management.

• 3+ years of QA/QC or food safety experience in food manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, allergen control, and food safety regulations.
• Experience with BRCGS, SQF, FSSC 22000, or similar food safety systems preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and spend significant time on the production floor.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• HACCP and/or PCQI certification.
• Experience with acidified foods, sauces, condiments, or shelf-stable products.
• Knowledge of pH testing, process controls, environmental monitoring, and internal audits.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
