Position: Clinical Dietitian Inpatient PRN Optional (Hiring Immediately)

Job Summary

PRN Clinical Dietitian covers vacation day shifts across the system, requires working remotely every 8th weekend. GREAT way to get your foot in the door: most of our PT and FT staff come from our PRN Dietitians! Looking for open availability/flexibility! Principal Accountabilities
  • Planning, directly participating in and documenting all aspects of the nutritional care of patients in assigned areas.
  • Perform nutritional assessment and document nutrition diagnosis based on guidelines outlined by the nutrition care process.
  • Discuss the nutrition diagnosis and provide nutrition counseling that outlines nutrition goals with patient, families, and other team members when possible.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to implement the nutritional care plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the patient’s nutrition care plan and revise the plan as needed.
  • Relate basic principles of nutrition to staff, health care team members and community.
  • Review current research to enhance professional practice.
  • Serve on at least one hospital committee and provide pertinent feedback positively impacting decisions that affect the department, hospital and community.
  • Demonstrate awareness of professional time management and use time efficiently and productively.
  • Be open to change and have the ability to alter one’s task with minimal loss of efficacy.
Job Requirements
  • As of 1/1/24, new practitioners are required to have a Master’s Degree in Dietetics; if eligible or registered prior to 1/1/24, a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics is required.
  • Dietetic limited permit is accepted upon hire.
  • Required to pass the RD exam within 6 months of hire date. Applicants not on a limited permit must have both Ohio licensure AND registration.
  • General clinical knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in a related field.
Job Responsibilities

Clinical Competency/Continued

Education:

Utilize all components of the Nutrition Care Process in care planning. Write appropriate PES statements and document discharge plans consistently. Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and make changes as needed. Keep abreast of new nutrition research through continuing education opportunities, attending at least one educational session in your focus area of practice a year, and keep your CDR education record updated.

Patient

Education:

Assess patient’s learning needs including cultural and religious beliefs, emotional and age-specific barriers, desire and motivation to learn, and diet history when completing patient education. Individualize patients’ intervention goals and ensure documentation is complete per department standards.

Projects: Complete a small project or bright idea such as updating a non-patient education clinical resource, publishing a nutrition article, conducting an education session on unit, or organizing a journal club reviewing a research article(s) with a group of Clinical Dietitians in the system.

Time Management/Flexibility: Demonstrate awareness of professional time management. On average meet patient ratio goals. Demonstrate flexibility and be able to adjust schedule to meet daily needs.

New Hire/Training and Development: Create a welcoming atmosphere, review trainees’ documentation, observe trainees’ patient interactions and provide feedback in a constructive/positive manner consistently when training new hires and/or dietetic interns.

Leadership/Teamwork: Provide constructive feedback to move initiatives forward during department discussions/meetings.
