Overton Industries is seeking a skilled engineering professional to design and develop custom tooling, machinery, and automation for tube‑forming or other custom applications, ensuring accurate models, clear documentation, and strong support for manufacturing teams. The role also includes testing, development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to maintain efficient and reliable production.

• Evaluate and interpret drawings and specifications to develop solutions for tube forming or other custom machine applications.
• Assist with estimating and developing cost targets for tooling and machine designs.
• Create conceptual tooling or machine designs for tube forming and material handling applications.
• Prepare complete and detailed 3‑D models of tubing form tools, dies, machines, and automated equipment.
• Responsible for creating detailed component drawings, assembly drawings, and process drawings.
• Generate bills of materials for product designs.
• Identify and source various materials, components, and assemblies required for tooling and equipment designs.
• Utilize hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, or electro‑mechanical devices in tooling and machine designs.
• Assist in the development of manufacturing processes for fabricating, building, and assembling tooling and machines.
• Perform quality assurance by designing testing methods, testing finished product, and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Prepare product and process documentation, e.g., process prints, setup sheets, fabrication prints, operations manuals, dimensional reports, etc.
• Address questions and concerns from shop personnel or other staff.
• Comply with government regulations and industry guidelines.
• Train technicians on operation of new tooling and machine operations.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities within the industry.
• Participate in project tracking meetings, design reviews, and customer‑driven status or project‑related meetings.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 3+ years of experience as a tool designer/machine designer preferred.

Skills:

• Proficiency with Solid Works or other 3‑D modeling software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with various Microsoft software applications.
• Ability to work and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in working in and facilitating a team environment.
• Self‑starter and completes tasks on time and on budget with limited supervision.
