Summary
Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work from a production schedule located within the work area.
- Randomly check product produced every hour to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Monitor the flow of product into processing machinery.
- Tend machines such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines and box machines to maintain product flow.
- Work at different work stations as production needs require.
- Work on lines where tasks vary as products of various shapes and sizes move along lines.
- Check finished product for possible defects.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Assure and participate in all plant safety/accident prevention policies, maintaining a safe work environment and following safe work practices.
- Maintain housekeeping of work areas.
- Follow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines.
- Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
- Learn new on‑the‑job skills as training opportunities become available.
- Perform any other tasks that may be assigned.
- Attend monthly shift meetings at 6 am for day shift or 6 pm for night shift.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree; or at least one year of manufacturing‑related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read a limited number of two‑ and three‑syllable words, recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers, and print and speak simple sentences.
Physical Demands: The employee must manipulate product with both hands, both above and below shoulder height; stand on a solid surface for a minimum of 12 hours; ascend and descend stairs and ladders; frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds; demonstrate repetitive motion with a pallet jack and push or pull up to 700 pounds throughout the day on a 12‑hour shift;
perform close visual inspection of product; work in temperatures of 100+ °F during summer and 50 °F during winter.
