Position Summary

The Community Relations & Impact Coordinator is UWJC's primary presence in the broader Johnson County community. This role builds and sustains relationships with civic organizations, community partners, and mid-level donors; administers the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP); and represents United Way at community events, service clubs, resource fairs, and public forums. The ideal candidate is energetic, relational, a confident public speaker, and genuinely passionate about connecting people and organizations to create lasting change.

This is an individual-contributor role and does not carry formal staff supervision responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary representative of United Way of Johnson County at community events, meetings, and public forums.
  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, businesses, civic groups, faith-based organizations, community leaders and donors.
  • Identify partnership and collaboration opportunities by promoting United Way’s mission, programs, and impact through outreach, presentations, and public engagement.
  • Manage and administer the Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP), ensuring compliance, reporting, and coordination with participating agencies.
  • Support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, partner engagement initiatives, and recognition activities.
  • Support community investment activities and allocations process through agency engagement, site visits, and community needs assessments.
  • Collect and share impact stories, program outcomes, and community data to support communications, marketing, social media, and reporting efforts.
  • Coordinate local board activities, funding applications, award processes, and communications with participating agencies.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely submission of required federal and national program reports; support grant applications.
  • Coordinate campaign related logistics in collaboration with UWJC leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, social work, public administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum two years of experience in community relations, program coordination, nonprofit development, or a related role.
  • Strong experience in public speaking.
  • Familiarity with federal grant programs (EFSP experience a plus) or willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; comfort with database tools and basic reporting.
  • Knowledge of Johnson County community landscape preferred; passion for human services mission essential.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
