2 years of recent Emergency Department experience IV and EKG rhythm interpretation skills

Description:

The unit has 26 beds and 3 trauma bays.

There is a fast track treatment area with 4 beds.

Triage is conducted within the department; there is no separate triage area.

Emergency Room nurses manage ER holds intermixed within the ER.A designated lower ligature risk room with a camera is available for patient  security is present 24/7 and is located just outside the department.

The unit sees approximately 60 patients per day.

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4.Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, altered mental status, STEMI cases, strokes, and chest pain.

Patient populations range from pediatric to geriatric.

Experience with moderate sedation is preferred.

Emergency Department Physicians and mid-levels include MDs, DOs, PAs, and NPs.Charge nurses are available 24/7 and manage patient care.

EMR used is Cerner.

Respiratory therapy is available 24/7, with a dedicated therapist assigned to the department.

Nurses monitor telemetry and read strips independently.

Radiology services are located close to the department, with staff typically assisting in patient transport.

Nursing staff performs 90% of lab draws, with lab assistance available when needed.

Scheduling consists of 12-hour shifts, with a six-week self-scheduling format.

There is a requirement to work every third weekend and be flexible with holiday shifts.

Floating may occur, primarily for sitters.

Dress code is navy blue scrubs; facial piercings are subject to policy.

Tattoos are acceptable as long as they are not inappropriate.

Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.

Punctuality is essential, and commitment to fulfilling the contract is required.

A cancellation policy allows for two shifts per 13-week contract.
