Quality Lab Team Coordinator

The Quality Lab Team Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for laboratory operations during the assigned shift. This role combines hands-on quality testing with team leadership, ensuring that laboratory procedures are executed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with production needs. The coordinator supports quality control activities across raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, while acting as a key liaison between manufacturing and quality functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily laboratory operations and coordinate testing priorities for the assigned shift to support production schedules.
  • Perform and oversee quality control testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products in accordance with established procedures.
  • Review laboratory results and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify that laboratory instruments and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning effectively.
  • Ensure established testing methods, procedures, and work instructions are followed consistently by all laboratory personnel.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to laboratory team members.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and cross-training of laboratory staff to build a flexible and capable team.
  • Coordinate workflow and laboratory activities to meet operational deadlines and production requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for laboratory operations in the absence of department leadership.
  • Investigate quality concerns, nonconforming results, and testing issues, including performing root cause analysis and supporting implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in studies, method validations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen laboratory performance.
  • Monitor quality performance indicators and identify opportunities for process and testing enhancements.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve product and process issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, logs, and quality documentation in accordance with laboratory documentation standards.
  • Conduct routine reviews of laboratory data to identify trends, abnormalities, or potential risks.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and workplace hazards promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready laboratory environment at all times.
  • Ensure effective communication and thorough shift handoff between laboratory teams to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through participation in Lean Manufacturing, quality, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support laboratory and manufacturing objectives.

Essential

Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality laboratory, quality control, manufacturing, or related industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing procedures, quality systems, documentation practices, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with data analysis, root cause investigation, corrective actions, audits, and quality performance monitoring.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds while working in a manufacturing laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with chemistry, chemical analysis, and quality control in a lab setting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate lab documentation and follow detailed work instructions.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a scientific, technical, manufacturing, or related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience training employees, leading projects, coordinating work activities, or providing team leadership is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or similar operational excellence initiatives is a plus.
  • Experience participating in method validations and continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with a climate-controlled laboratory environment.
