Responsibilities
- Managing and directing the accounts payable processes and procedures, including ensuring all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable and all invoices are paid timely.
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Assist VP of Accounting and the Director of Accounting to coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
- Participates in numerous special projects including Live Racing, Derby and special events and other duties as assigned.
- Provide BIG Service to internal and external guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset.
- Develops and maintains professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guest, and vendors.
- Ensure that work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Work safely, following company safety policies and procedures, completing work in a safe manner, caring about safety of self and others, responding appropriately in an emergency, and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
- Maintain professionalism and a friendly and approachable demeanor throughout the workday.
- Assist with training/mentoring of new team members.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.
- 3 – 5 years supervisor experience required in an accounting role.
- CPA preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must pass all required pre‑screening and background checks.
- Internal candidates must meet the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Transfer and Promotion Policy.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
