Trade Compliance Controller
[ Summary ]
A leading global automotive components manufacturer is seeking a Trade Compliance Controller. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day trade compliance activities in accordance with internal customs import-export policies and ensuring full adherence to local, national, and international trade laws, tariffs, export controls, and customs regulations.
[ Essential Duties ]- Receive, monitor, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade laws, regulations, tariffs, sanctions, and customs requirements.
- Ensure corporate adherence to import/export laws, export controls, anti-money laundering regulations, and trade compliance policies.
- Create, enforce, and audit internal trade compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure accuracy of customs declarations, shipping documents, permits, and customer-required documentation (e.g., SLIs, USMCA, AALA, certificates of origin).
- Determine and verify correct HS codes for imported/exported goods and perform routine classification audits.
- Maintain relationships with government agencies, customs officials, and legal experts regarding regulatory updates.
Full-time, Salary Exempt. On-site plant/office environment. Travel (local, domestic overnight, or international) is rare.

[ Salary / Benefit ]- $75K–$90K / year (Salary Exempt, DOE)

[ Qualifications ]- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, or related field preferred. - Minimum 2 years of experience in international trade compliance and import/export compliance roles.
- Deep understanding of customs regulations, laws, procedures, and Harmonized System (HS) code classifications.
- Proficiency in using ERP systems and databases for documentation management.
- Certified Trade Compliance and/or Export Specialist certification desired.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.
