Note:
This operation runs 24/7, and schedules are determined by operational volume and regional needs. Weekend availability is required, and facilities may have varied closure schedules depending on client requirements.
The QC (Quality Control) Manager is responsible for leading the facility’s quality control function, ensuring that all products meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role oversees the entire QC team, manages quality programs and compliance, drives corrective and preventive actions, and collaborates cross-functionally to strengthen food safety, regulatory readiness, and continuous improvement across operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and develop QC Supervisors, Technicians, and support staff, ensuring consistent execution of quality processes and adherence to company policies.
- Oversee all routine inspections of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods, ensuring compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen and enforce sanitation, hygiene, allergen control, and foreign-material prevention programs across the facility.
- Ensure accurate documentation of quality checks, inspections, deviations, corrective actions, and quality metrics.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, operational deviations, and product non-conformances, driving root cause analysis and implementation of preventive actions.
- Partner closely with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse Leadership to proactively resolve quality issues and optimize processes.
- Maintain full compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMPs, and all internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the operation and verification of scanning, detection, and measurement equipment, ensuring calibration and proper usage.
- Monitor and verify weight control, temperature monitoring, packaging integrity, and product consistency.
- Serve as the facility lead for internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring audit readiness at all times.
- Analyze trends in quality results and create action plans to reduce defects, improve consistency, and enhance overall product quality.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, coach, and develop QC teams effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of quality control principles, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SQF/BRC protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with a focus on root cause and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and interact with senior leadership.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and a high level of detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- 3+ years of experience in quality control, food manufacturing, or warehouse quality environments required.
- Previous management or supervisory experience in a QC or QA role strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of FDA, USDA, HACCP, and food safety programs highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments, including cold storage.
- Ability to work near heavy machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems in a fast-paced environment.
