Class A Fuel Transport Driver Position Summary
The Class A Fuel Transport Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery of petroleum products to customer locations, retail fuel stations, and bulk plants. This position requires strict adherence to all federal, state, and company safety regulations while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle, including tanker trailers, to transport fuel products.
- Load, transport, and unload petroleum products in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and en-route vehicle inspections.
- Complete and maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies.
- Verify product quantities and delivery locations before unloading.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Follow emergency response procedures in the event of spills, accidents, or equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of equipment and work area.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Hazmat (H) and Tanker (N) endorsements; X endorsement preferred.
- Current DOT medical certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean driving record with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
- Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screenings and background checks.
- Strong understanding of DOT and hazardous materials regulations.
- Ability to safely operate tanker equipment and fuel delivery systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and access tanker compartments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to safely connect and disconnect hoses and delivery equipment.
- Full-time position.
- Day, night, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required based on operational needs.
