Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator CDL

Overview

Scotty’s Contracting and Stone seeks a CDL Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator for the Heavy Civil Division. The role involves operating commercial vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites, and performing various operative and labor tasks to support job site operations. This role requires knowledge of and the ability to operate large construction equipment, including but not limited to loaders, backhoes, track hoes, haul trucks, and water trucks.

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to company, local, and federal safety regulations and protocols to minimize risk to workers, drivers, and pedestrians.
• Take direction from the crew leader for assignments and job duties.
• Perform minor servicing/maintenance or refer major problems to the foreman and shop manager.
• Remain aware of site conditions and report hazards or issues to the lead or foreman promptly.
• Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers by showing respect, fostering teamwork, and supporting a collaborative and professional work environment.
• Complete required documentation, such as incident reports or site logs, in accordance with company standards.
• Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Perform other physical tasks required to maintain the job site.

• Must have CDL
• Three years of experience performing similar responsibilities
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle report in good standing
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to protocols
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Climbing:
  Ability to safely climb into and out of equipment greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily
• Height:
  Ability to climb and work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet
• Balance:
  Standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying
• Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, equipment, vehicles, and obstructions
• Hearing:
  Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions
• Awkward positions:
  Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground
• Heavy lifting:
  Up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs with assistance
• Conditions:
  Outdoor work in heavy civil construction with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain

This position is predominantly outdoors in various weather conditions. The Heavy Equipment Operator with CDL must be prepared for changing environmental conditions and able to adjust to the demands of an active construction site.

• Physical stamina is required, as the role involves standing, climbing, and bending for extended periods
• Repeatedly climbing into and out of large heavy equipment more than 10 feet off the ground; exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery in operation

Safety gear such as gloves, helmets, and protective eyewear is essential during all operations. The selected candidate should be able to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
