Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: As per FEA ESP Contract

General Description

The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled special education assistant to work in the STRIVE Program at Washington St 3-5 Elementary School. The STRIVE Program is a specialized program with a low student‑to‑teacher ratio for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who require intensive programming and support. The program addresses the unique needs of each student, ensuring developmentally appropriate instruction and individual inclusion with program staff.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) strategies are utilized throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide positive behavior supports and academic interventions for students.
  • Ensure safety of students during in and out of the classroom.
  • Work with lead teacher to provide academic, social, and emotional support and intervention.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and therapists to carry over skills.
  • Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (toileting, standing, self-care, etc.).
  • Collect data.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher, or Para Pro Certification.
  • Knowledge and training in ABA.
  • Experience working with students with developmental disabilities.
  • Able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
