General Description

Franklin Public schools is seeking an energetic, creative and innovative Kindergarten Teacher. The successful candidate must be a motivated individual with a passion for encouraging and inspiring students to love learning.

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to examine student data, plan curriculum, and ensure appropriate learning experiences for all students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms and as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement if applicable.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate subject matter/instructional model knowledge.
  • Demonstrate effective student engagement strategies.
  • Develop inclusive classroom routines and practices.
  • Contribute to the development of course scope and sequence.
  • Design instruction that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Remain informed of/apply research and trends in content and teaching.
  • Use data to inform instruction.
  • Provide students with regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to examine data and plan curriculum and instruction to ensure equitable learning experiences.
  • Other related duties as assigned by building administrators.
Qualifications Required
  • Appropriate licensure from the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and dependability.
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
Qualifications Preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in public school setting.
  • Able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and dependability.
