Adjunct Faculty - Intro to Weight Training (EXSC-290)
Dean College's School of Liberal Arts & Sciences is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach in person during the Fall 2026 semester. The position requires creating a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
Job DescriptionTeach EXSC-290:
Introduction to Weight Training. EXSC-290 is a 3-credit class that meets 2.5 hours per week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300 per section. Faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Exercise Science program provides a course charter with objectives and sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to use Canvas at the minimum level established by the College.
Course description:
This course will help students develop skills to promote participation in a weight training program. Students will use universal and free weights to develop strength and muscular endurance. The course covers concepts of form, repetition sequence, and provides a basic understanding of muscular and training techniques.
Section schedule:
Tuesday/Thursday, 8:00 am to 9:15 am. Tuesday is lecture and Thursday is lab in the weight room.
- Master’s degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in strength and conditioning or another professional certification equivalent is required.
- Experience teaching or coaching in person at the college level is preferred.
- Experience creating lesson plans for lab/weight room activities and knowledge of various exercise equipment is required.
- Strong computer skills are required. Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
- Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas and classroom media is required.
- Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required. Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles is required.
