About the Opportunity

GCX is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op / Intern to join our engineering team in Franklin, MA. GCX is a leading provider of mounting and mobility solutions for medical devices and equipment used in healthcare facilities worldwide.

This hands-on opportunity provides students and recent graduates with practical experience in a collaborative manufacturing environment where engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams work together to bring products from concept to production.

The position will support a variety of engineering activities, including product testing, engineering documentation, design support, ERP system maintenance, and manufacturing‑related projects. While exposure to product design and CAD tools is part of the role, this position offers a broader view of the engineering function and the many processes required to develop, document, manufacture, and sustain products.

This role is ideal for candidates interested in gaining real‑world experience across multiple aspects of engineering and manufacturing while working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with mechanical engineering projects, product testing, and validation activities.
  • Support engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and design records.
  • Utilize the IFS ERP system to maintain and update engineering data and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation, and reporting using digital tools and automation.
  • Support manufacturing, quality, and engineering initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Open to junior and senior undergraduate students, recent graduates, and graduate students.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with CAD software;
    Solid Works or Creo preferred.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
Additional Qualifications
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, machining, assembly, or quality inspection.
  • Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to support research, documentation, data analysis, and workflow automation.
  • Experience with 3D printing.
Additional Details
  • Location: Franklin, MA (On‑Site)
  • Schedule: Full‑time during the summer; part‑time during the academic year (if applicable)
  • Commitment: Minimum 6‑month commitment
  • Compensation: $27 – $30 per hour
