Job Summary and Qualifications
This role will support our free‑standing emergency rooms at Centennial Medical Center (Spring Hill, Bellevue, and Ashland City). The Emergency Room Float Pool Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, utilizing therapeutic communication daily, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, and identifying nursing problems related to individual patient needs. The role also plans individualized patient care, utilizes an interdisciplinary approach, participates in performance improvement activities, and coordinates participation that supports the hospital’s mission and vision.
When acting in the charge nurse role, the RN is responsible for daily activities that ensure the delivery of quality patient care. Duties include making staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill; serving as a role model and clinical resource for the staff; and responding promptly to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff, or patients.
What you will do in this role- Assess plans and evaluate patients’ care needs, then carry out physician orders.
- Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition using computerized documentation systems.
- Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care planning team.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Two years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency department.
