Job SummaryActs as an agent of the company in the Planning and Purchase of raw materials and controlled materials to support the Tilton/Franklin locations. This position reports to a Production Control Manager or Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities- Analyzes material requirements and historic demand to develop purchasing forecasts and place purchase orders.
- Reviews and maintains inventory planning parameters including min/max levels and re-order points to meet internal customer demands.
- Initiates request for quotations; recommends and takes appropriate action.
- Schedules and tracks deliveries using purchase orders, blanket order releases, and spot buys where appropriate.
- Confers with purchasing, engineering, planning, and other internal personnel to exchange information regarding inventories, schedule/forecast changes, and related issues.
- Frequently interacts with suppliers to maintain current contact information and system planning parameters (lead times, packaging sizes, promise dates, etc.).
- Resolves discrepancies that arise such as discrepant pricing, warranty claims, failure to comply with specification, over shipments, etc.
- Develops and implements strategies to reduce risk and optimize supply chain performance, recognizing total cost implications and cost-savings targets.
- Support Production Control manager to meet on customer delivery, inventory and level loaded schedule.
- Analyze requirements to optimize production flow, lead times, raw materials, lot sizes, tooling or supplies required to achieve production plan. Plan part quantities and release dates to ensure uninterrupted organization operations.
- Plans production work orders based on MRP requirements and customers specifications.
- Reviews and releases work orders to production.
- Updates and maintains status reports and lines of balance (LOB).
- Investigates and resolves issues related to past due shipments/work orders and material shortages.
- Serve as primary backup for certification clerk, shipping clerk and packaging clerk.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, economics and/or engineering with 2-3 years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Familiarity with Supply Chain metrics and MRP systems.
- Ability to analyze production data and develop solutions.
- Understanding of procurement policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to maintain composure in high stress situations with suppliers, peers and customers.
- Ability to work extended hours as need arises.
