Position Summary
Individual will be making repro pattern, screwing, pinning, fitting patterns together, mounting patterns to production plates, core boxes, trim dies, pusher heads and gating the patterns per a layout determined by the Pattern Engineer. All job tasks will be performed under the supervision of experienced pattern makers. Incumbent will receive hands‑on training in planning, layout, and construction of unit or sectional patterns used in forming sand molds for castings according to blueprint specifications.
ResponsibilitiesYou will:
- Set up and operate machine tools, such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, CNC vertical milling machines, and grinders, to machine castings or patterns.
- Verify conformance of patterns or template dimensions to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, and micrometers.
- Layout and assemble pattern sections, using marking, hand tools, measuring devices, and power tools.
- Verify dimensions of completed patterns and perform other related tasks.
- Demonstrate flexibility based on changing department requirements (overtime, shift coverage, etc.).
- Perform routine housekeeping to ensure area operates within parameters that conform to environmental and safety standards.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment and abide by safety rules. Must report any job‑related injury and/or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality standards as established by the company.
- Plan layout and perform machining operations and bench work to construct, measurements, grinding, and alignment to drawings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in a manufacturing environment considered in lieu of diploma.
- Education or training in shop math (basic geometry, trigonometry, conversion of fractions to decimals), blueprint reading, and machine tool trades.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed on‑site at a manufacturing facility, primarily in a workshop environment in the Franklin Foundry location, Monday–Friday. The employee will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
