Job Title: Shift Supervisor

Job Summary: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading all production operations during the assigned shift, including extrusion, press operations, packing, loading, and maintenance coordination. This position ensures production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards and customer requirements. The Shift Supervisor provides leadership to production employees, coordinates workflow, resolves operational issues, and promotes continuous improvement while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, coach, and support production employees during the assigned shift.
- Assign daily work responsibilities and monitor productivity to meet production goals.
- Train, mentor, and develop employees to enhance skills and support career growth.
- Communicate job expectations and provide ongoing performance feedback.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication within the department and across all functional areas.
Production Operations
- Oversee extrusion, press, packing, and loading operations to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing and resources as needed to meet production requirements.
- Ensure equipment is properly set up and operated according to established procedures.
- Monitor process variables, equipment performance, and production output.
- Complete shift reports, production summaries, and turnover documentation accurately.
- Identify production challenges and implement timely solutions to minimize downtime.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Perform routine visual inspections and monitor quality throughout the production process.
- Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to prioritize equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and assist with troubleshooting efforts.
- Monitor equipment performance and work to reduce unplanned downtime.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and address hazards immediately.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality, and workflow.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to implement process improvements.
- Participate in projects that increase productivity and reduce waste.
Employee Relations
- Address employee concerns professionally and consistently.
- Assist with attendance management, coaching, documentation, and corrective action when appropriate.
- Support a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or manufacturing education preferred.
- Three to five years of manufacturing experience, preferably in aluminum extrusion or a related production environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience required.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, quality systems, and equipment operation.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities and troubleshooting production issues.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
