The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, has a full-time vacancy for a Bridge Maintainer I - III.
SummaryBRIDGE MAINTAINER I
To perform semi-skilled bridge construction work, assisting other bridge maintainers in maintenance, repairs, and construction associated with bridge maintenance activities.
BRIDGE MAINTAINER II
To perform semi-skilled and skilled bridge construction work, assisting other bridge maintainers in maintenance, repairs, and construction associated with bridge maintenance activities.
BRIDGE MAINTAINER III
To perform skilled bridge construction and maintenance duties, assisting and supervising work performed by other bridge maintainers and acting as crew supervisor in the absence of the Bridge Construction Supervisor.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and vice versa.

Experience:
Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school - License/Certification:
Valid driver’s license - Other Requirements:
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency
- Must receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements

Experience:
Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after high school, with at least 1 year as a Bridge Maintainer II or equivalent - License/Certification:
Valid Driver’s License (CDL-A or CDL-B) with tank and air brake endorsements - Other Requirements:
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the hiring agency
- Must receive a negative result on a pre-employment urinalysis drug screen in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations and US DOT requirements

Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) with tank and air brake endorsements within 1 year.

The following responsibilities describe common duties for Bridge Maintainer levels and may vary by level:
- Perform masonry, carpentry, welding, wood and steel fabrication, structural steel placement, and reinforcement of steel and bridge components
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment; assist with work zone traffic control and environmental controls for wetlands
- Assist in the installation of temporary bridges and maintenance of moveable span bridges
- Use rigging, slings, scaffolds, and staging for safe lifting of materials
- Adhere to work zone safety, health, and hazardous material procedures; use PPE
- Work in challenging environments including high speed traffic, night work, hazardous materials, heights, and extreme weather
