Position: Income Tax Clerk – Part-time

The City of Franklin is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to serve as a Part-Time Income Tax Clerk within the Income Tax Division. This position provides essential support during peak tax season and assists with a variety of clerical and customer service functions related to the administration and collection of municipal income taxes.

Compensation & Benefits

$20.10- $24.56 / hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Income Tax Division in maintaining accurate records of tax receipts, payments, and refunds.
  • Collect tax payments and post daily receipts.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to taxpayers in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.
  • Perform clerical duties including typing, data entry, filing, scanning, and record maintenance.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Support the processing and collection of municipal income taxes for both individual and business taxpayers.

Maintain confidentiality of taxpayer information and records.

Cross trains to support finance and utility billing divisions. Assists in all areas of Finance Department as assigned.

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous clerical, bookkeeping, customer service, or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately handle cash and maintain financial records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule

This is a part-time position with hours varying based on departmental needs, with increased hours required during peak tax filing season.
