Custodian (Part Time) - Atrium Family YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive Director or designee and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Custodian is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, which include such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal. The Custodian will also complete duties related to window washing, room set up, groundskeeping, light maintenance, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs daily walkthroughs of the facility.
  • Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
  • Perform general cleaning duties as assigned which could include but not limited to wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming and other general cleaning responsibilities.
  • Performs light maintenance duties as assigned which could include, but not limited to, changing light bulbs, replacing shower heads, hanging pictures, replacing water fountain filters, preventative maintenance on equipment, etc.
  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
  • Ensures YMCA building and property is safe and secure during shift. Reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies. Maintains an accurate log of cleaning supplies.
  • Assists with room set up, as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Experience:

    Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
