Shift Supervisor - 3rd Shift

Job Overview

With direction from the plant manager and/or department managers, this role is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, material handling, cost performance, and employee relations for the assigned shift and department. The position requires efficient use of resources (labor, materials, and equipment) to manufacture quality products at the lowest possible cost. The supervisor coordinates the activities of hourly employees on the assigned shift.

• Ensure safety of all employees; lead safety teams and programs on the assigned shift to prevent injuries.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
• Supervise all production activities for the assigned shift.
• Schedule shift employees and crew machines to cover vacations, absences, and overtime.
• Meet or exceed productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations for the shift.
• Implement and maintain best manufacturing practices.
• Hire, train, direct, and mentor shift employees with diverse language, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
• Direct shift in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S with safety, Six Sigma, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing, including all TOPPAN GPS (Global Performance System) activities.
• Coordinate production scheduling on shift to meet customer demands, manage overtime, minimize inventory, and reduce costs.
• Support quality initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations and ensure employees complete required quality checks and audits.
• Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving employee satisfaction.
• Provide direction, training, and development as needed; provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as appropriate.
• Recommend disciplinary action to the department manager.
• Prepare or approve required shift documentation: production reports, time cards, etc.

Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering, or five years of relevant experience is preferred.

The annual base salary range for this role is from $85,000 to $95,000.
