Overview
Rebuild/Repair Technicians provide diagnostic and technical support to below-the-hook (BTH) products. The Repair Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, diagnosis, rebuild/repair, clean-up, and reassembly of lifting equipment. As a skilled Rebuild/Repair Technician, you follow blueprints to meet product specifications and utilize the appropriate manufacturing methods and fundamental technology used to assemble new products or improve existing equipment.
Responsibilities- Ability to understand and use a full range of precision measuring and gauging tools required to perform the inspections.
- Adhere to in-house specifications for the manufacture, fabrication, and repair of various equipment and finished metal products.
- Follow blueprints to meet product specifications.
- Conduct tests to evaluate quality and tolerances to engineering drawings and in-house specifications.
- Maintain the organization of parts to make the rebuilding process smoother and more efficient.
- Maintain and properly store shop tools and equipment with good housekeeping.
- Receiving/offloading incoming shipments and loading outbound shipments.
- Local delivery to and pick-up of items from area vendors.
- Surface preparation of structural items for painting.
- Other duties as assigned.
- KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of 2-3+ years of fabrication or millwright experience is preferred. Possess or can qualify for certification to AWS 14.1 requirements for SMAW (stick) and FCAW (flux core). - SKILLS:
Experience in welding, fabrication, and performing repairs to various components comprised of a variety of types/grades of steel under AWS Code requirements and in-house specifications. - Experience with the mechanical disassembly, evaluation, and reassembly of equipment and sub-assemblies.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other paperwork related to the work order.
- Experience with the operation of overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Familiarity with a wide range of common hand, power, commercial and industrial tools.
- 3-phase motor control experience is a plus.
- Must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong data entry and computer skills.
