Hachette Nashville is looking for a Publishing Coordinator to provide editorial and administrative support to the Publisher of Hachette Nashville. Hachette Nashville publishes leading voices and resources in the Christian market under the Apiary and Faith Words imprints.

This role is based in our Nashville, TN office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports the Publisher of Hachette Nashville in the editorial management of franchise authors, new acquisitions, Bible publishing, and special projects, including the drafting of P&L statements, Title Management setup, and on-going metadata management.
  • Works closely with authors and literary agents throughout the publishing process (manuscript development, payments, sales information, etc.)
  • Draft, edit, and maintain cover briefs, fact sheets, catalog copy, and other descriptive metadata.
  • Reads, evaluates, and reports on manuscripts, proposals, and other materials submitted for publication through Apiary and Faith Words.
  • Produce and run various reports using in-house systems, including publishing schedules, various sales reports, competition grids, fact sheets, etc.
  • Supports Publisher in obtaining and organizing data to support all aspects of the publishing process, including acquisitions, budgeting, title performance monitoring, and author sales reporting.
  • Guides projects through the post-subedit phase of the editorial process, collaborating with Managing Editorial, Production, and Marketing/ PR.
  • Organizes and distributes materials for Hachette Nashville’s internal publishing process meetings (acquisitions, titling, etc.)
  • Organizes and distributes materials for publishing cycle meetings (launch, sales conference, etc.)
  • Attends and participates in editorial, project development, and sales meetings, including editorial board, acquisitions, titling, jacketing, and publishing cycle meetings.
  • Manages administrative needs for the publisher, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, and completing expense reports.
  • Manages the Nashville office, including incoming mail, working with vendors, ordering supplies, and organizing meeting logistics.
  • Coordinate seasonal planning meetings (Launch, Strategy, Sales Conference), including timelines, materials, and follow-ups.
  • Drafts correspondence on the Publisher’s behalf to internal and external stakeholders.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated interest in non-fiction books, especially Christian and inspirational.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of publishing experience required
  • Previous administrative experience supporting a senior executive preferred
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills; astute reader and evaluator of projects for commercial potential.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of information and work efficiently within Hachette’s systems of record.
  • Ability to interact effectively and pro-actively with a diverse constituency, including department staff, senior management, support staff, authors, agents, and media
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced environment and evolving industry
  • Strong computer (Mac or PC) skills, including MS Word, Excel, Adobe, Basecamp, Canva, databases.
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also ensuring attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident problem solver who takes initiative to improve processes and to contribute positively to the culture and growth of Hachette Nashville.
