YourImpact
- Conduct construction inspections on roadway, bridges, and utility projects
- Conduct assignments in accordance with TDOT standard procedures and policies
- Provide inspection services for conformance to plans and specifications
- Observe, measure, and record all construction quantities for payment
- Perform mathematical calculations associated with quantity measurement
- Record field measurements in project records for review by the client or auditors
- Review and document project traffic control on required forms and distribute as required
- Inspect daily erosion control items for conformance to the plans as well as effectiveness in the field
- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications and resource materials to determine answers to simple inspection requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 0‑4 years construction or inspection experience on roadway construction projects or completion of a 2‑year engineering technology program in Roadway Construction Management
- Preferred to have experience on TDOT or Local Agency municipal roadway projects
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
- Operate under diverse outdoor conditions
- Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection
- Computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, and basic Data Entry Software
- Willingness to work overtime, perform nighttime construction inspection and travel up to 100 miles to jobsite
- Perform duties without supervision
- OSHA 10 Safety Training
- Work Zone Traffic Control and Flagger (or equivalent ATSSA certified courses)

The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stooping, crawling, and lifting. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
