We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Project Estimator to join our Heavy Civil Construction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for grading, drainage, utilities, asphalt paving, and highway construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, collaborative, and ready to take ownership of complex estimating responsibilities while also supporting the development of junior team members.
Responsibilities- Analyze drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Interpret and understand contract terms, conditions, and project scopes.
- Develop detailed and well‑organized estimates and proposals under tight deadlines.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for grading, drainage, utilities, and asphalt paving.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure full scope coverage.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, and vendors.
- Provide clarification on scopes and explore value engineering opportunities.
- Collaborate with field personnel to ensure smooth project transitions and handoffs.
- Support Project Managers in field management transfer.
- Assist the Chief Estimator with mentoring and training junior estimating staff.
- Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working in the construction field or a closely related discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- AGTEK 4D
- On‑Screen Takeoff
- Building Connected
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid (preferred)
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines.
- Team‑oriented mindset with long‑term leadership potential.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must pass all required company drug and alcohol testing.
