The Site Safety Coordinator serves as a field leader responsible for influencing safe work practices, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring the company's safety expectations are consistently achieved. This position spends most of its time in the field partnering with project teams to identify hazards, develop practical solutions, and build a culture where every employee takes ownership of safety. The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s safety program across all Civil Constructors job sites.

This role is field centric and requires active engagement with crews, supervisors, and project teams to ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and alignment with company safety expectations. This position is designed for safety professionals who are willing to immerse themselves in field operations to gain a deeper understanding of civil construction activities.

Key Responsibilities Field Presence & Engagement
  • Maintain a consistent presence on assigned job sites to observe work activities and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Build working relationships with superintendents, foremen, and crews to influence positive safety behaviors.
  • Participate in daily huddles, pre-task planning (PTPs), and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
  • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to proactively identify risks before work begins.
  • Assist operations in planning work that is both safe and productive.
  • Support crews in developing practical field solutions that improve safety without sacrificing efficiency.
Site Inspections
  • Conduct routine and unannounced site safety inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and at-risk conditions; document findings and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of controls for high-risk operations such as excavation, confined space, traffic control, and heavy equipment operations.
Safety Program Support
  • Assist in the implementation of the company’s safety management system across all phases of work.
  • Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis, documentation, and corrective action development.
Training & Development
  • Deliver and support safety training initiatives, including new hire orientation, task-specific training, and refresher courses.
  • Reinforce hazard recognition and safe work practices through coaching and mentoring in the field.
  • Promote continuous learning and workforce engagement in safety processes.
Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure job sites comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining site-specific safety plans (SSSPs), permits, and required documentation.
Qualifications Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in safety and occupational health, or a related construction safety certification
  • Basic understanding of construction safety principles and hazard recognition.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both field and management personnel.
  • Proficiency with safety applications and technology
  • 5 years of prior experience in construction or safety related role.
  • Knowledge of Civil Construction activities such as grading, underground utilities, paving, blasting or demolition.

Required
  • OSHA 30
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to travel between job sites
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA/TOSHA standards and safety regulations.
  • Field Credibility:

    Thorough in inspections, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Problem Solving:
    Identifies hazards and contributes to practical, field-driven solutions.

Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Field-based on active construction sites with exposure to heavy equipment, varying weather conditions, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb, and stand for extended periods.
